Recommendations to School

Schools Work

Children spend a large proportion of their time in school. Schools can be fun and exciting and present opportunities full of learning and development, but there are also many challenges that can present in school that children can struggle with. Amongst other things, these challenges may be with learning in the classroom, in teacher-child relationships and in peer relationships both in the classroom and in the playground.

We know that all children are very different and that the school classroom setting may not ‘fit’ for all. It may be that your child is struggling with their learning and needs adaptations to their environment to support their learning. It may be that your child is struggling to manage their emotions and/or social interactions in the classroom and that this is getting in the way of learning, or it may be that your child is not quite able to communicate what they need from their teacher or the classroom environment in order to meet their learning needs.

If this sounds familiar to you, then it is important that your family and the school system work together in close collaboration to enable a joined up approach in supporting your child or young persons needs. I am able to support this collaboration by offering the following services:

  • Observation of your child at school
  • Consultation to the teaching staff to support their understanding of your child's needs, including behaviour management advice and support
  • Recommendations to school for example, on adaptations to the classroom environment.
